Thanks for your interest in my work.
I am a Professor of Political Science Research Methods at the University of Salzburg.
Before that, I was a lecturer of Comparative Politics at the University of Reading. I hold a PhD from ETH Zurich. My research focuses on challenges to (liberal) democracy. Specifically, I am interested in understanding empirically how populism and climate change exert pressure on liberal democratic governance.
I am currently an editor of the European Journal of Political Research.
Together with Maurits Meijers (University of Antwerp) and Andrej Zaslove (Radboud University Nijmegen), I am part of the Populism and Political Parties Expert Survey team. In our latest iteration, we measure the positions and attitudes of 312 parties on key characteristics related to populism and party ideology in 31 European countries.
